Ne Zha 2’s Box Office Falls Behind Titanic by Barest of Margins

As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the worldwide earnings of the animated gem, Ne Zha 2, have soared past the $2 billion milestone! However, even with this remarkable achievement, it’s important to note that it trails behind Avatar 2 and Titanic, maintaining their top positions. In recent times, Ne Zha 2 bid farewell to its extended stint at the Chinese domestic box office. This visual masterpiece is the brainchild of Jiaozi, a renowned director also known by his artistic name, Yu Yang.

How Ne Zha 2’s box office stands against Avengers 4, Titanic, and Avatar movies

Based on data from Ent Group, Ne Zha 2 shattered records at the worldwide box office, earning an estimated $2.215 billion. The film premiered in Chinese cinemas on January 29, 2025, and enjoyed a limited screening in U.S. theaters starting February 14, 2025.

In China, Ne Zha 2 raked in more than $2 billion, but in the U.S., it’s only managed to gross around $20 million.

Or:

China saw Ne Zha 2 earning over $2 billion, whereas it has made slightly above $20 million in the United States.

After premiering within China, Ne Zha 2 swiftly took over cinemas and emerged as one of the top-grossing animated films ever made. Remarkably, it outperformed Inside Out 2, a movie that eventually earned over $1.69 billion worldwide.

Nevertheless, the earnings of Ne Zha 2 fall short compared to films such as Titanic, Avatar, and Avengers: Endgame, even though it has managed to secure the fifth position among the highest-grossing movies ever. To clarify, Titanic holds the first spot with $2.257 billion, followed by Avatar: The Way of Water at $2.320 billion, then Avengers: Endgame with $2.797 billion, and finally Avatar with a staggering $2.923 billion in total gross revenue.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Ne Zha 2 received a 96% score on the Tomatometer and an impressive 99% on the popcornmeter. Much like its predecessor, Ne Zha (2019), which was also highly successful in China and grossed over $700 million.
