As a dedicated NCIS fan who has been sailing through its captivating narratives for over two decades, I must say that the release of season 21 on DVD is nothing short of a treasure trove for us enthusiasts! The blend of heart-wrenching episodes and insightful behind-the-scenes glimpses makes this collection an absolute must-have.

As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve got my hands on the latest DVD release of NCIS Season 21! This isn’t just a rewatch of the ten gripping episodes, but a chance to immerse myself deeper into the world of the series. One episode even comes with engaging audio commentary from the talented cast and crew behind the scenes – a rare treat indeed!

In case you remember, Season 21 kicked off with Agent Nick Torres encountering an unexpected figure from his past. Shortly after, our cherished team member and friend, Dr. Mallard, parted ways with us. Despite being cut short by a writer’s strike, the season offered numerous tales that delved into each character’s storyline.

Concluding the 21st season has left certain character arcs unresolved; rewatching the DVD is an excellent opportunity to recapture the enchantment of season 21 prior to the premiere of NCIS season 22 on October 14, 2024.

The DVD collection includes three discs in total. Disc one is home to episodes “Algún Día,” “The Stories We Leave Behind,” and “Lifeline.” Additional content on this disc concentrates on episode 2, which chronicled the team’s grief over the demise of Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, portrayed by the late David McCallum.

For this disc, the standout feature is titled “Farewell Ducky: Honoring David McCallum.” It’s delightful to witness such a heartfelt tribute to the actor and his character. The tribute serves as a touching homage to an extraordinary man who graced our screens for 20 seasons.

Additionally, you’ll find an audio commentary track for the tribute episode of Ducky. This commentary includes NCIS actor Brian Dietzen and Scott Williams, who collaborated on writing the episode.

On Disc 2, you’ll find four captivating episodes titled “Unspoken Words,” “The Strategy,” “Alien Intruders,” and “A Thousand Paces.” This disc also includes a unique bonus feature with the talented actress and director Daniela Ruah, who played Kensi Blye in NCIS: Los Angeles and directed episodes for both NCIS and the newest series, NCIS: Hawai’i.

As someone who has spent over two decades in the entertainment industry, I must say that “Ruah’s Rules: Directing NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i” is a fascinating insight into the behind-the-scenes world of television production. Having worked on numerous sets myself, I can appreciate the level of dedication, creativity, and hard work that goes into each episode, especially when you’re an actor turned director like Catherine Daddario (Ruah). This documentary provides a unique perspective on her journey as a director, and it’s inspiring to see how she balances acting and directing roles with such grace. It’s a must-watch for anyone interested in the television industry or simply enjoys NCIS and its spin-off series.

On the last DVD, you’ll find episodes titled “Heartless,” “Prime Cut,” and “Reef Madness.” This disc offers two bonus features. One of them delves into the heart of the season with “21 Seasons and Counting: An In-depth Analysis of NCIS Season 21.” The other, named “NCIS in Action: Behind the Scenes of Stunts,” focuses on the making of action sequences.

In summary, this DVD offers an abundance of entertaining behind-the-scenes glimpses into the creation of the show, totaling approximately 36 minutes. Additionally, each episode lasts for a duration of 7 hours across all episodes, allowing you to complete season 21 in one day if you have spare time or prefer to watch it while multitasking with your daily activities.
