As I delve deeper into the intricate web of characters gracing our screens through the lens of “NCIS: Origins“, it becomes increasingly evident that each actor has brought their unique experiences and talents to the table. Randy, the father of young twins, seems to have a wealth of patience that’s going to be tested with his new probie. His parenting journey must be an endless rollercoaster, but I can only imagine the chaos he’d face if he had triplets!
Prior to becoming the renowned figure known as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, he was a novice agent for NIS, still grieving over the tragic loss of his wife Shannon and daughter Kelly, who were both murdered. In the series NCIS, this story has been portrayed, but now viewers will be given an insight into the aftermath of this tragedy, particularly Gibbs’ encounter with Pedro Hernandez, a drug dealer responsible for their deaths as he had also killed a Marine at Camp Pendleton, which Shannon had witnessed.
From this challenging perspective, NCIS: Origins is poised to provide viewers a glimpse into the younger days of Gibbs, offering an engaging backstory. The series introduces us to Agent Gibbs when he’s fresh and eager to prove himself on the NIS team headed by Mike Franks. NCIS: Origins premiere date
On Monday, October 14th at 9 PM Eastern Time, we’ll find ourselves in Gibbs’ first day at work. This special occasion falls immediately after the start of NCIS: Origins’ twenty-second season. The premiere for this series will last for two hours. However, it won’t maintain a 9 PM slot throughout the season. Instead, it’ll shift to the 10 PM hour starting October 21st.

Exciting news for fans: Mark Harmon will be rejoining the NCIS universe in a role beyond just being an executive producer, as he and his son Sean are already fulfilling that duty for this particular series. Interestingly, instead of acting, Mark Harmon will be lending his voice by narrating for the prequel.

In the series NCIS: Origins, Austin Stowell portrays Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who is starting his career as an NIS agent in 1991. As a greenhorn, he’s grappling with sorrow and adapting to the intricacies of this fresh organization after having served as a Marine.
Mariel Molino portrays Special Agent Lala Dominguez – Similar to Gibbs, Dominguez is a former Marine; however, being a woman, her military and NIS background differs significantly from his. Her approach in the predominantly male environment showcases a sharp wit and tenacity akin to steel. Yet, there’s an undeniable connection between them that generates sparks, much like two similar magnets. Despite Gibbs being troubled by past tragedies, this doesn’t deter their mutual attraction. Like attracts like, after all.
Kyle Schmid portrays Mike Franks – The character of Franks, the Special Agent, is from Texas, a detail you won’t overlook. With cowboy boots and a mustache reminiscent of Sam Elliott, Franks carries his Texan heritage with pride. He embodies a firm sense of morality, guiding his team relentlessly in their mission to rectify injustices, even when it means taking measures to uphold justice.
As a dedicated fan, I might put it like this: “At Camp Pendleton, I’m Mary Jo, the Field Operation Support Officer, often referred to as the ‘lifeblood’ of our office due to my extensive knowledge and experience here. I jokingly call myself the HSIC, or Head Secretary in Charge, because I take great pride in keeping things running smoothly. Over the years, I’ve learned where the proverbial bodies are buried, so to speak. I fiercely guard the unit I serve, always ready to support and protect my team.”
Fans of NCIS may recognize Vera Strickland, played by Diany Rodriguez, from the season 11 episode titled “Under the Radar”. In this role, she partners with Frank. Her younger counterpart maintains the same straightforward and direct demeanor as one would anticipate. Hailing from Brooklyn, this character is as tough as they come and has no patience for fools, particularly those she considers ‘misogynistic morons’.
Caleb Martin Foote plays Special Agent Benjamin “Randy” Randolf, who serves as Gibbs’ mentor. Given his role, he has to be patient since he’s now in charge of training a newcomer. Fortunately, Randy is known for his great patience. With young twins at home, he’s accustomed to the unpredictable, so dealing with the novice won’t be much of a surprise.
Daniel Bellomy serves as Assistant to Special Agent Granville “Granny Dawson,” currently working under the Evidence Custodian. In truth, Granny harbors ambitions of climbing the ranks and transitioning into a role as a field agent.
Robert Taylor takes on the character Jackson Gibbs, originally portrayed by the late Ralph Waite in the main series, and is now assuming the role of a stern father figure to the character Gibbs. The dynamic between them as they navigate the grief that Gibbs has experienced will likely be an intriguing aspect of the prequel, as Taylor delves into the complexities of their relationship.
In the role of Special Agent in Charge, Patrick Fischler portrays Cliff Walker. The Pendleton office, being a relatively new National Investigative Service (NIS) unit, often finds itself facing challenges and is frequently overlooked. Yet, Walker stands firm, committed to enhancing the reputation of the Pendleton branch, even if it means risking his own career for its success.
Kai Blackrock, who serves as the Chief Medical Examiner, is a highly respected figure in his profession and operates from the San Diego County office. Often referred to as calm under pressure, Blackrock’s connections with the National Intelligence Service may pose potential challenges that he can’t ignore regardless of his preferences.
Lori Petty portrays the role of Dr. Lenora Friedman, a dedicated professional in the field of forensic pathology who exudes a captivating charm and seems to be at ease around deceased individuals. In the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office, she is recognized as the seasoned expert.
Woodrow “Woody” Browne, portrayed by Bobby Moynihan, is a high-ranking chemist and director at the NIS Forensic Lab who juggles an overwhelming workload. Despite his sleep deprivation, he manages to infuse a quirky humor into the office environment, keeping it vibrant.
