NBC Orders New Tracy Morgan Comedy, Renews 2 TV Shows

NBC has formally given a green light to the new comedic series starring Tracy Morgan, entitled “The Rise and Fall… and Rise Again of Reggie Dinkins“. This venture brings Morgan together with his former colleagues from 30 Rock, including Tina Fey who is taking on an executive producer role.

Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that the network will continue its popular drama series, “The Hunting Party” featuring Melissa Roxburgh (from “Manifest”) and “Brilliant Minds” spearheaded by Zachary Quinto (“American Horror Story”). These shows premiered during the 2024-2025 television season.

The plotline for Brilliant Minds is modeled on the remarkable life and career of neurologist Oliver Sacks, portrayed by Quinto in the series. It follows Oliver Wolf and his dedicated team of trainees as they delve into the unexplored territory of the human mind. Simultaneously, they navigate their personal lives and mental health issues.

In the plot summary for “The Hunting Party”, when an enigmatic explosion at a concealed prison sets loose the country’s deadliest serial murderers, a previous investigator of criminal minds is compelled to re-engage in an exhilarating chase. Joining forces with a group consisting of soldiers, intelligence officers, and special agents, she must locate and apprehend these treacherous individuals… before they claim more innocent lives.

What is NBC’s new Tracy Morgan comedy show about?

The story of Reggie Dinkins’ Downfall and Redemption will feature Daniel Radcliffe, known for his work in the Harry Potter series, portraying Arthur Tobin – a renowned filmmaker. In this production, Morgan assumes the character of a disgraced ex-football player who aims to restore his tarnished reputation. Alongside Morgan and Radcliffe, Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall are also part of the cast.

The show is created and overseen by Robert Carlock and Sam Means. It’s additionally overseen by Eric Gurian from Little Stranger, David Miner from 3 Arts, and Rhys Thomas, who will also be directing the first episode. This project falls under Tina Fey’s contract with Universal Studios.
