2K Games officially revealed the launch date for NBA 2K25 in July, and they also unveiled Jayson Tatum and A’Ja Wilson as the game’s cover stars. September promises an exciting time for sports video game enthusiasts with the upcoming releases of both EA Sports FC 25 and its free-to-play rival, Ultimate Football League (UFL).
Prior to the launch of both FC 25 and UFL, you have an opportunity for early access to NBA 2K25. Its official release date and time are set, so you’ll be able to start playing basketball quite soon!
NBA 2K25 early access release date
The pre-launch date set for NBA 2K25 is on September 4th, which is slightly ahead of its official launch scheduled for September 6th.
Just like in past years, we’re seeing last-generation editions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this time around. The current-gen versions are only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As mentioned in the FAQ, crossplay is supported, but it’s limited to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S systems.
As a fellow enthusiast, I’m excited to share that cross-progression is available for MyTeam and your Virtual Currency Wallet, yet there are some platform-specific restrictions. Essentially, this progression only transfers between consoles of the same brand. For instance, if you’re a PlayStation user, it applies to both PS4 and PS5, while Xbox users can enjoy cross-progression across Xbox One and Series X/S.

When does NBA 2K25 early access come out?
The exact release time for the early access of NBA 2K25 has been set as follows: 5AM Pacific Time, 8AM Eastern Time, and 1PM British Summer Time on September 4th.
The specified times for all platforms have been verified in the initial FAQ. This simultaneous rollout is happening on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. However, due to the global simultaneous launch, we won’t be able to exploit the New Zealand release time strategy like in past instances.
