In 2023, Nayanthara’s movie “Annapoorani” faced backlash upon its Netflix premiere on December 29, 2023. The film ignited controversy due to certain scenes seen as disrespectful towards religious sensitivities, prompting its removal from the streaming service. However, new developments suggest that it will be reinstated on OTT platforms shortly.

As per the recent chatter, it seems that Annapoorani will reappear on an OTT platform once more, with the new platform being Simply South instead of Netflix. The anticipated release date for this is set for August 9, 2024.

On X’s latest post, Simply South announced that Annapoorani will be released once more. Yet, they haven’t provided any information on whether this movie might not be accessible to audiences in India. Therefore, there hasn’t been an update regarding its availability in the country either.

For those unfamiliar, disputes over specific scenes in the movie “Annapoorani” arose when Ramesh Solanki, founder of the Hindu IT cell, filed a police report against the film’s creators. He argued that certain scenes were disrespectful and hurtful to Hindu religious feelings. Additionally, he requested that not only the makers but also the actors be subjected to legal proceedings.
