The release of Naanum Rowdy Dhan nine years ago feels like yesterday, yet it has left an indelible mark on my cinematic memory.
Lady superstar Nayanthara and ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi’s iconic 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhan is one of the most loved and popularized action rom-coms till date. The film was directed by Vignesh Shivan and produced by Dhanush. As the movie completed 9 years of its release, the diva dropped a heartfelt post expressing her gratitude and reliving her best memories.
On her Instagram account, Nayanthara shared a unique video tribute titled “Naanum Rowdy Dhan”. The video offered sneak peeks of her and her co-star Vijay Sethupathi, both during their on-screen moments and off-set interactions, along with behind-the-scenes glimpses of the team.

9 years ago today, Naanum Rowdy Dhan was unleashed into my life, transforming it forever. I am eternally grateful for the fresh love from people, valuable lessons as an actor, and cherished memories this movie has given me, as well as the new relationships it brought into my life. For those unfamiliar, the film “Naanum Rowdy Dhan” made its debut on October 21st, 2015. The musical composition of this movie was masterfully crafted by Anirudh Ravichander, and it was fully financed under the production house of the leading star, Dhanush, known as Wunderbar Films.
At first, music composer Anirudh was selected to lead the project. Unfortunately, he decided to step down. Then, Gautham Karthik and Lavanya Tripathi were picked as the main characters. However, despite this change, the project still didn’t move forward. Eventually, Dhanush stepped in to direct the film, and eventually, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi were chosen for the lead roles.
The narrative centers on a boisterous individual’s life and his romantic involvement with a young woman who is deaf. Yet, he encounters a significant hurdle when his beloved unexpectedly asks something profound of him.
