In the wrestling final’s weigh-in on August 7, 2024, Vinesh was found to be slightly overweight, tipping the scales at more than 100 grams above the limit. Interestingly, she had managed to maintain the required weight for the earlier rounds of the competition, but this excess weight led to her disqualification in the final weigh-in.

Due to Vinesh’s dismissal, she will finish at the bottom of her category. Consequently, Sarah Hilderbrandt from the United States, who was supposed to compete against Vinesh in the final, will now vie for the gold medal.
