Naughty Dog turns off Intergalactic reveal comments as boring losers scream “woke” once again

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that I find the antics of certain segments of the gaming community utterly baffling and downright tiresome. It seems that for some, every new game release is an opportunity to cry “woke” and whine about diversity in video games.

At the conclusion of The Game Awards, which wrapped up at 4AM BST, Naughty Dog, the creators of The Last of Us, officially revealed their long-awaited sci-fi game – Intergalactic: The Rogue Prophet.

In a captivating four-and-a-half minute movie-like trailer featuring Porsche spaceships, Pet Shop Boys CDs, and shocking laser swords, many viewers found the game enticing. However, just as happens every time, there were those who aimed to dampen the enthusiasm.

Intergalactic reveal comments get shut off

Although The Last of Us Part 2 achieved both critical and financial acclaim, boasting a popular lesbian lead character and a transgender supporting role, the unveiling of Intergalactic has ignited backlash among some online gaming enthusiasts, who are expressing displeasure over what they perceive as the game’s “progressive” approach.

The trailer for the game introduces the latest main character, Jordan A. Mun, who is portrayed by Tati Gabrielle – a versatile actress of mixed descent, recognized for her performances in shows like Uncharted and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, taking on this new role.

2024’s internet, being the vocal platform it is, quickly responded to this with a phrase like “Go Woke, Go Broke,” despite the fact that the PlayStation-exclusive action game, set to sell millions anyway, was at the center of the controversy.

Critics who are opposed to progressive ideas, who caused a stir over Indiana Jones and The Great Circle earlier in the year, quickly expressed their displeasure towards the new video game, and this sentiment was frequently heard during The Game Awards 2024.

During the yearly festivities known as the gaming celebration or marketing extravaganza, gamers expressed discontent when The Witcher 4 was announced with Ciri taking over from series lead Geralt. Those who completed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would realize this development was an expected progression of the storyline. However, it seems that for some gamers to voice concerns about progressive themes in games, they should probably experience a game other than Counter-Strike 2 first.

Simultaneously with an abundance of critical remarks, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic unveiling has garnered a vast amount of thumbs-down following its launch. Currently, the game is rated at 50% dislikes on YouTube.

“Intergalactic: The Rebel Prophet” – As of now, there’s no confirmed release date and we haven’t seen any actual gameplay yet. Yet, being a Naughty Dog production, expectations are high, even if the quality isn’t top-notch. It certainly looks intriguing though.
