In more casual terms: Tovino Thomas’s latest flick, Narivetta, premiered on May 23, 2025, and it’s been a hit! Critics and viewers alike have been raving about it. Now, the actor himself has posted an emotional video, expressing his gratitude for all the love the movie has received.
In a video posted by the actor from Lucifer, numerous spectators – even celebrities – were observed exiting the cinemas with tear-streaked faces. Expressing myself in the same spirit, I too resonate with the sentiment: “My heart and mind are filled,” echoing the Malayalam phrase, “Narivetta, filled eyes and minds.
Tovino Thomas shares audience’s emotional response to Narivetta
Narivetta is a recently released Malayalam action drama movie that’s inspired by the Muthanga incident of 2003. In reality, this protest was led by the Adivasis under the Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha (AGMS), who were demonstrating against the government’s slow response in providing them land that had been promised to them back in 2001.
In the event, officers discharged a total of 18 gunshots, which intensified the situation and led to the instant deaths of two individuals, among them a policeman.
During the incident, officers fired off 18 shots, heightening the tension and resulting in the immediate loss of lives for two people, one of whom was a police officer.
In this movie, I’m fortunate to be sharing the screen with a talented cast like Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran (making his Malayalam debut), Arya Salim, and Priyamvada Krishnan, among others, in pivotal roles. Discussing the film, there’s been a stir surrounding Narivetta following the accusation by Unni Mukundan’s manager, Vipin Kumar, that the actor physically attacked him after Vipin had complimented the movie starring Tovino Thomas.
During the ongoing probe, the Marco character has addressed the accusations, stating that Vipin is attempting extortion rather than genuine claims. He urges the public to avoid hasty judgments in this case.
Regarding Tovino Thomas’ upcoming projects, he will star in a movie called “Palli Chattambi”. This new action film is being directed by Dijo Jose Antony, who is known for his work on “Jana Gana Mana”, marking the first time they have worked together.
