In a chat with DNA India, Nani discusses his upcoming movie HIT: The Third Case, set for release on May 1, 2025. During the interview, he shared his thoughts on Salman Khan’s comment about Bollywood films underperforming in the South.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but echo the passionate sentiments of the Natural Star when he declared his affection for Bollywood movies: “To me, Hindi has always been the original, and then came the vibrant world of South cinema. The love that South films are currently receiving is a relatively new, yet profound feeling.

Nevertheless, the affection for Bollywood spans decades, and if you inquire about a Southerner’s preferred Hindi films, they might recall childhood recollections of Amitabh Bachchan as an actor.

To clarify his point about Salman Khan’s popularity, the actor explained, “Given that Bollywood films didn’t achieve success in the South, how did Salman gain stardom there? Films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun hold cultural significance there. We used to play songs such as Didi Tera Dewar Deewana and others at our weddings.

If you weren’t aware, Salman Khan has stated that his films tend to underperform at the Southern film market. He explained this by suggesting that the reason Bollywood movies struggle in the South is because there isn’t widespread acceptance for Hindi films in those regions.

In the HIT series, we move forward to the third case, a new film penned and helmed by Sailesh Kolanu. This upcoming chapter will feature Nani in the starring role as Arjun Sarkaar.

The film chronicles an investigation spearheaded by the Police Superintendent from the HIT team based in Visakhapatnam, who is assigned a top-tier case involving a series of brutal slayings in Jammu and Kashmir.
