Nayanthara’s legal dispute with Dhanush originated when he filed a copyright lawsuit against her and her team. This was due to their use of clips from their film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in one of Nayanthara’s documentaries, without obtaining Dhanush’s consent or necessary clearance (No Objection Certificate), since he is the producer of the 2015 movie. This case is currently being heard by the Madras High Court.
In the most recent court proceeding regarding this matter, a surprising assertion was put forth by the attorney representing Dhanush.
In their contract for the film, Nayanthara and her team agreed to certain terms with senior advocate PS Raman. However, by including a 28-second BTS video in her documentary, they allegedly breached this initial understanding as stated by senior advocate PS Raman.
As the film’s producer, Dhanush holds all the rights to the movie, which encompasses the outfits worn by Nayanthara while the filming took place.
The lawyer stated, “In our agreement with Nayanthara, we asserted ownership over all characters, film elements, and even costumes she wore in our movie, as I hold the copyright. This means the lawsuit is valid and eligible for court proceedings since it presents a justifiable claim.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve been eagerly following the latest developments in the legal battle between Dhanush and Nayanthara. Just recently, we saw a move from Dhanush’s legal team after two petitions were filed by the streaming giant of the documentary at the Madras Court. These petitions aimed to reject the leave granted to Dhanush’s production house, allowing them to sue Nayanthara. Now, I can’t wait to see how this unfolds!
For those who may not be aware, actress Nayanthara addressed a substantial copyright allegation made against her documentary by Dhanush, amounting to approximately 100 million rupees, publicly on social media.
