My Hero Academia: Is the Manga Over? Will More MHA Chapters Come Out?

As a long-time fan of My Hero Academia and someone who’s been following its incredible journey since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon learning that our beloved manga is coming to an end. The news of Chapter 430 being the finale has left me both heartbroken and excited at the same time.

Fans of the Manga “My Hero Academia” are curious if the story is coming to an end. They’re also asking if the series itself, often referred to as MHA, will conclude and if there will be additional chapters published in the future. Since its debut in 2014, My Hero Academia has sparked a worldwide sensation with its compelling narrative, thrilling action sequences, and well-developed characters. Both critics and fans have praised it as a standout work of art. Furthermore, the MHA manga has achieved significant commercial success, selling over 100 million copies and becoming a best-seller.

Is it wrapping up the thrilling narrative of My Hero Academia soon? Could there possibly be additional instalments of MHA ahead in the near future? Here are the possibilities.

Following a two-week hiatus in publication, news arrives that the creator of MHA, Kohei Horikoshi, has apologized on social media for this gap. During his post, he discussed the upcoming final five chapters of My Hero Academia and expressed gratitude towards fans who have been reading the manga since its debut.

Additionally, he subtly suggested he’d be involved in a new venture by exclaiming “See you at the next jump!”, though he didn’t specify whether it was a continuation of My Hero Academia or a different undertaking, according to GamesRadar+.

Will more My Hero Academia chapters come out after Chapter 430?

There will not be any more future chapters for My Hero Academia after Chapter 430.

Furthermore, as of now, Kohei Horikoshi hasn’t planned any additional My Hero Academia (MHA) stories, a fact he shared during an interview with Viz Media in July 2024. During this conversation, Horikoshi mentioned that he has crafted elaborate backstories for Izuku Midoriya’s One For All predecessors. However, these backstories have not been integrated into the main MHA narrative; instead, Horikoshi chose to keep them separate.

In simpler terms, the creator of “My Hero Academia,” Kohei Horikoshi, has chosen not to delve into the backstories of certain characters in his series. This decision is reminiscent of the plot structure in “Terminator 2”, where he intentionally avoids including such narratives as part of future storylines.

He explained that in “Terminator 2,” John Connor emerges as a leader in a future setting, while Schwarzenegger’s character is dispatched from this future world. However, there aren’t many visualizations of the future itself in the movie. Since the future isn’t shown extensively, it leaves room for viewers to fill in the blanks with their imaginations, which he found quite impressive. Consequently, he wanted to develop something similar to “Terminator 2.”

Although a previous Reddit discussion featured translations of My Hero Academia Volume 32, it was revealed that author Kohei Horikoshi initially intended to create a brief backstory for antagonist Lady Nagant, detailing her heroic past and complicated relationship with the HSPC. However, comments made by Horikoshis in a Viz Media interview suggest he may have decided against writing this story. (paraphrased from Comicbook)
