How did Deku lose One for All in My Hero Academia?

Deku not only obtained the tremendous power of One For All and the abilities of its previous wielders, known as “vestiges,” but rather than just adding to his own strength, these combined traits transformed him into one of the most powerful heroes. Even surpassing All Might at his peak, Deke still faced challenges in defeating Shigaraki, a foe whose regeneration, toughness, and might were reminiscent of All Might’s.

To defeat Shigaraki, Deku had to dig deep into his personal recollections and cause harm from within. He managed this by imbuing Shigaraki with fragments of One For All. This instigated internal chaos and compelled him to grapple with his past, paving the way for the decisive showdown against All For One. Fervent supporters believed these embers would provide Deku with enough energy post-war. Initially, he held onto some residual energy from these embers, but it became apparent they weren’t long-term. Over time, as he utilized his powers, the embers dwindled until, by Chapter 430, they vanished completely. By graduation, it was obvious that Deku had regained his Quirklessness, with One For All’s full power no longer within him.
