MW3 players call crossplay “the worst thing ever added,” as cheaters run rampant in Season 5

As a long-time Call of Duty player with countless hours invested in various titles over the years, I can’t help but feel disheartened by the recent surge of cheaters in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) during Season 5. It seems that no matter how many measures Activision takes to combat these exploits, they always manage to find a way around them.

If you’ve played Call of Duty games recently, you may have encountered the persistent issue of cheating. Despite Activision’s efforts to combat this problem with various measures, it’s nearly impossible to eliminate all instances since cheat developers continuously find new ways to introduce them into the game. Sadly, Modern Warfare 3 is the latest addition to this list, as Season 5 has experienced an alarming surge in hackers.

As per a recent post by ModernWarzone (previously known as Twitter), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been swarming with cheaters following the Season 5 update and its addition to Xbox Game Pass. Many comments under the thread echoed this sentiment, suggesting that crossplay might be the culprit. However, some users like IntoValhallaX noted that console cheating is not a new problem, as it was an issue even before Activision implemented crossplay.

Sadly, the problems with cheating, controversial microtransactions, and annoying in-game ads in Modern Warfare 3 on Steam have resulted in mostly negative reviews. Let’s hope Activision can figure out how to minimize cheaters in MW3. On a positive note, if you’re a Call of Duty fan, you won’t need to deal with hackers for much longer since the release date for Black Ops 6 is getting closer (although it’s likely that the new game will still have its own share of cheaters).
