Muuto Wants You To Go Skygazing More With the Dream View Bench

Summary

  • Muuto and Lise Vester have unveiled the all-new Dream View Chair, a reflective stainless steel chair designed for skygazing.

The Dream View Bench, an ergonomically designed bench for skygazing with a curvy steel structure, is scheduled to be revealed at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen by Muuto and Danish designer Lise Vester.

Initially, Vester sketched out her concept by tracing her pose onto the sandy shoreline, then recreating that form using styrofoam. Subsequently, she evaluated the design with individuals of assorted ages and heights to perfect its shape, ultimately discovering the most agreeable configuration for gazing at the sky. Originating from Denmark, the Dream View Chair is offered in individual 60cm seats or spacious 100cm two-seaters for a shared viewing experience.

As I sit here gaming, I can’t help but notice how the chair’s shimmery surface bends and reflects the colors of its surroundings, giving it a sleek, contemporary look that fits both indoor and outdoor spaces. But what really catches my eye is when I take it outside – it seems to drink in the hues of the open sky, making it a truly captivating piece of furniture with an added pop of nature’s colors.

As a nature enthusiast, I found myself drawn to the endless expanse of the sky – a treasure that’s freely accessible to many, as long as we take the time to lift our gaze. When we do, the simple beauty of natural daylight, the ever-changing hues, the moon, drifting clouds, and soaring birds all seem within arm’s reach. These fleeting instances of awe and gratitude are often overshadowed by the hurly-burly of everyday life. Inspired by this, I aimed to design something that steers the observer’s gaze skyward, fostering moments of mindfulness and dreamy reverie while gazing, as Lise Vester expressed in her statement.

At the 3daysofdesign festival in Copenhagen, the Dream View Bench is scheduled for a preview at the Muuto space prior to its official launch, which is set for September 2025.
