The fact that they’re bringing back Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane in my beloved “Smallville,” is just the cherry on top of this suspenseful sundae.

According to L.R. Wright’s novels, the storyline of “Murder in a Small Town” revolves around Karl Alberg (portrayed by Rossif Sutherland), who used to be a cop in bustling cities but decides to resettle as the police chief in the tranquil town of Gibsons, British Columbia. Contrary to his expectations, he soon finds himself probing crimes within the town, even murder.
Alberg receives assistance from his police colleagues and forms a romantic bond with the neighborhood librarian, Cassandra Mitchell, portrayed by Kristen Kreuk. The series, initially seeming like a typical mystery, is garnering notice due to some unexpectedly big-name guest appearances.
The 90-minute premiere had Oscar nominee James Cromwell as an elderly resident who’s suspected of a dark murder. The third episode featured former Castle star Stana Katic as a woman tied to her brother’s death with a dark secret.

According to TVLine, it has been announced that Episode 4, titled “Prized Possessions,” will feature the reunion of actress Lana Lang (played by Michelle Kreuk) with her Smallville co-star Erica Durance. The popular WB/CW series provided a launching pad for both actors, with Kreuk portraying Lana and Durance as Lois Lane. In this episode, Durance will take on the role of Emma O’Brea, an old acquaintance of Cassandra’s who could potentially be linked to a murder.
