Among them were the illustrious figures Kamal Haasan and Mammootty, who also took a moment to honor the literary titan that was Vasudevan Nair.

Kamal Haasan mourned the passing of MT Vasudevan Nair, a remarkable author who left an indelible mark on Malayalam literature. He reminisced about their 50-year friendship that started with the movie Kanyakumari, which was instrumental in introducing him to the Malayalam film industry.

The most valuable fortune I’ve received during my film career. I have embodied numerous characters with a hint of his spirit. I can’t remember any of them currently. An era is coming to an end. My mind seems vacant. I extend both my hands.

Vasudevan Nair, famed director, has been behind the scenes of seven films and crafted over fifty movie scripts. His remarkable talent garnered him the National Film Award for Best Screenplay on no less than four occasions.

In 1995, he was bestowed with the esteemed Jnanpith Award, and a decade after that, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in recognition of his long-term achievements.
