MrBeast Sued by Former Producer Brittany Carter, Claims Report

As a longtime fan of MrBeast and his over-the-top antics, I’ve been following his career with great interest. However, this recent lawsuit filed by former producer Brittany Carter has left me a bit concerned. While I admire MrBeast for his creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, it’s essential to ensure fair labor practices are upheld in his growing empire.

YouTube sensation MrBeast, recognized for his lavish videos and generosity through giveaways, is facing a lawsuit filed by his former producer Brittany Carter due to claims related to her work with his production team. The lawsuit alleges unpaid wages and raises concerns about the labor practices within his vast content creation empire.

Here’s a breakdown of the case and its potential impact on MrBeast’s growing empire.

Why is MrBeast getting sued by former producer?

YouTube sensation MrBeast, known for his massive following of more than 330 million users, is currently dealing with a legal dispute initiated by ex-producer Brittany Carter.

According to a report by WVLT 8, Carter asserts that she was not paid overtime wages and was incorrectly classified as an independent contractor while working for MrBeast’s production company. She filed a lawsuit on November 18, 2024, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. This legal action aims to recover unpaid wages, overtime compensation, damages, and attorney fees due to alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the North Carolina Wage and Hour Act.

According to Carter’s claim, she consistently worked between 70 and 75 hours weekly, yet only received her $10,000 monthly base salary, which was given bi-monthly. The lawsuit states that MrBeast’s company deliberately categorized her as an independent contractor in order to dodge paying overtime.

Even though she started working full-time as a producer in July 2022, she claims that she had to address work communications at any hour of the day, every day of the week. Moreover, Carter relocated from California to Greenville, North Carolina, for this role, and MrBeast’s company offered her an apartment there.

The accusations stem from MrBeast dealing with other contentious issues. Among these are a legal dispute concerning his Amazon-supported reality show, Beast Games, which centers around allegations of poor workplace conditions and unfair treatment of contestants. Carter’s assertions suggest that her job did not meet the exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for executive, administrative, or professional positions. This means she is entitled to additional compensation for overtime work.
