As a seasoned movie critic with over two decades of experience under my belt, I have seen my fair share of horror movies that leave me questioning the sanity of humanity. However, the new release “LongLegs” truly stands out as an exceptionally disturbing and unsettling experience.
In the new horror movie “LongLegs,” I find the setting absolutely chilling. The town seems shrouded in darkness and despair, with each house sporting ominous, gloomy walls. It’s always on the verge of raining, if not actually pouring down, adding to the overall sense of unease and foreboding.
In an astonishing transformation, Nicolas Cage is barely recognizable as the grotesque mass-murderer Longlegs in this production. It’s believed that he spent hours under the makeup artist’s care each day to achieve such a terrifying appearance.
An FBI agent’s life, as portrayed in this film, is sadly marked by grueling investigations of heinous murder cases. This involves examining grim autopsy photos and confronting mass murderers. After watching this movie, one can’t help but ponder the motivation of individuals who choose such a profession, filled with distressing realities as depicted in this narrative.
I’ve seen my fair share of intriguing films, but the one with Agent Lee Harker, brilliantly portrayed by Maika Monroe, leaves me utterly baffled. Monroe manages to bring depth and authenticity to a shy, slightly autistic, genius crime investigator, working alongside her boss, Agent Carter, played by Blair Underwood in one of his rare movie appearances.
“In my opinion, the Audience Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is 65%, aligns more with this movie’s true value, as opposed to the Critics Rating of 87%. I’ve seen Nicolas Cage in some wild makeup before, but unfortunately, this film doesn’t live up to the hype.”
