In a recent interview, Jeremy Slater, who’s penning the script for the upcoming Mortal Kombat II, shared that early reactions to the film are reminiscent of his feelings towards Avengers: Endgame. Mortal Kombat II is set to be a sequel to the 2021 movie Mortal Kombat and will mark the fourth live-action film in the franchise. Similar to its predecessors, it derives from the video game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

Endgame. Notably, Endgame premiered in American cinemas in April 2019 and has since turned into one of the most financially successful films ever made. On Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a 94% approval rating after 551 reviews, and is currently the second highest-grossing movie globally, just behind Avatar (which was released in 2009).

2021’s Mortal Kombat was originally postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but since its debut, it has earned a 55% positive response on Rotten Tomatoes based on 297 reviews. The film had a decent performance at the box office and performed exceptionally well once it started streaming.
