A recently viral video of Morgan Wallen leaving Saturday Night Live (SNL) after the credits shows an explanation now. For those unaware, Wallen was part of this weekend’s SNL episode but abruptly left at the end, which felt strange as other cast members continued to socialize and exchange farewells.
Following the event, he shared an Instagram story saying, “Transport me to where God dwells.” Although the 31-year-old hit-making artist didn’t offer any clarification, a confidential source informed Page Six that Wallen declined to take part in a humorous skit for the program. The singer reportedly maintained a less-than-cordial demeanor on set.
According to the informant, Wallen declined to perform the sketch, leaving them no choice but to get Joe instead. The source continued, expressing initial expectations that Wallen might record a pre-tape and potentially more content, but those plans didn’t come to fruition. The insider also stated that Morgan complied with the requests made of him. However, aside from his role as a musical guest, he did not contribute to anything else in the production.
Kenan Thompson, one of Saturday Night Live’s actors, has commented on the controversy surrounding Shane Walen’s walk-off from SNL. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Thompson said, “I can’t fathom what could lead someone to act in such a manner. I’m unsure if he grasped the task at hand or if he was emotionally stirred up about something.
Apart from mentioning it, he also pointed out that he “absolutely witnessed” the unexpected departure of the performer from the stage.
