Mookuthi Amman 2: RJ Balaji reveals why he is not directing the sequel starring Nayanthara; ‘NOT INTERESTED…’

Actress Nayanthara will once again take on her character in the follow-up to last year’s film Mookuthi Amman 2. Contrary to the original, which was overseen by actor-turned-director RJ Balaji, the sequel is now under the guidance of Sundar C. Recently, RJ Balaji finally spoke out about not being involved in the direction of this upcoming project.

During a chat with Galatta, RJ Balaji openly discussed that it appeared as though his plans weren’t compatible with the project at hand.

In the original film, the director responsible for the first installment stated that although the production team had a concept for Mookuthi Amman’s sequel, he himself didn’t have any such ideas. Consequently, a different director took over for the Nayanthara-led production.

RJ Balaji expressed that he’s not currently inclined towards working on Mookuthi Amman 2 at the moment, as his personal plans, path, and destiny didn’t align with this project. Consequently, they had an idea for the sequel, but he himself didn’t have one, which is why another director will be taking over instead.

Afterward, he reminisced about the discussion that transpired between him and Sundar C, centered around the sequel for the project. Given that Madha Gaja Raja’s director had exposed him to those films, RJ Balaji chose to inquire if he could lead Mookuthi Amman 2 instead.

To share some updates, the highly anticipated sequel film featuring Nayanthara, titled Mookuthi Amman 2, was officially unveiled at a gathering in Chennai. The event was graced by a majority of the cast and crew members, including the main actress herself.

At the very same gathering, movie producer Ishari Ganesh astonished everyone by stating that the production was aiming to be a globally recognized film, and it was being financed on an impressive scale of 100 crore rupees.
