Monster Hunter Wilds shows off Seikret mount & new Slinger features

As a seasoned hunter with countless hours spent in the verdant landscapes of the Monster Hunter universe, I can confidently say that the latest revelations about Monster Hunter Wilds have me more than just a little excited. The Seikret mount and the improved Slinger mechanics are not just new features; they’re game-changers!

Moving ahead, we eagerly anticipate Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled for 2025 release. In the meantime, Capcom keeps us thrilled with fresh updates on the upcoming installment of their acclaimed monster-slaying series. Recently, they’ve shared videos highlighting various game aspects, and one video focused on our new mount, Seikret, and enhancements in the Slinger tool.

As a seasoned Monster Hunter player with countless hours spent hunting beasts both large and small, I was thrilled to see Capcom reveal the latest updates to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s basic mechanics this week. While some of the changes were already familiar, such as the ability to carry two main weapons into battle and the distinction between weapon drawn and sheathed stances, it was the mysterious Seikret mount that truly piqued my interest.

One intriguing aspect that could significantly enhance user experience is the new functionality of the Slinger, our reliable wrist accessory. Despite the original slingshot function remaining, it now has the ability to collect ammo from the surroundings and hurl it at monsters for various results. Additionally, you can trigger trap-like hazards such as falling ceiling rocks that can cause damage to enemies. However, what truly sets this apart is the capability for the Slinger to grab items from a distance, a feature reminiscent of the Hookshot in Legend of Zelda games. If there’s an item you desire but it’s out of reach, simply lock onto it and use the Slinger like a hookshot to snag the item and reel it back towards you. This can even be done while riding the Seikret, making the collection of resources during busy times effortless.

As we move closer to 2025, anticipation for Monster Hunter Wilds continues to build. Keep an eye out for updates and insights on this highly-anticipated game, exclusively here on Shacknews.
