Monster Hunter Wilds Players Can’t Leave Characters Alone As They Make Alma “More Attractive”

Now, I’m no game developer, but you have to imagine that when a game is created, all characters are designed in the team’s vision. The way they look, the way they act, the way they speak— it’s a form of storytelling in its own right.

Over recent years, however, a subsection of gamers have decided that characters should only look the way they want them to and have started to ‘Yassify” them. It happened to Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy, Ciri was quickly slated after The Witcher 4’s Game Awards reveal, and now some players seem hellbent on changing Monster Hunter Wild’s Alma.

Some Monster Hunter Wilds Players Really Want To Change Alma’s Appearance

Although Monster Hunter Wilds has been out for less than a month, gamers have been hard at work “fixing” Alma. In just two-and-a-half weeks since the game launched, there have been no fewer than six mods on Nexus Mods that change the appearance of Alma or the way she acts.

Some of these mods are good and help add a little depth to the character, with one player giving her black nail polish and another aiming to remove her skimpy armor in favor of more appropriate hunting gear. Other mods, though, are a little more nefarious.

One modification, referred to as “Alternate Alma,” significantly alters her character appearance. Although her basic facial features remain consistent, this mod is segmented into various components: it swaps out her body, styles her hair differently, and offers the choice to eliminate her glasses. A second mod goes even further in its modifications, however.

The “Alma Face Edit” mod completely remodels the character’s face, which, according to the creator, “makes her more attractive.” Naturally, many of the comments on the mod aren’t great, insulting the original design of Alma, and other characters in the game.

If you feel like altering Alma is necessary, we suggest the “Seikret Alma” modification that dramatically replaces her character model with a Seikret. Alternatively, there’s a different mod available that strips all fur and feathers from the monsters, essentially leaving them bald.
