Monster Hunter Wilds Players Are Using Custom Stickers Just Like You’d Expect

Summary

  • Like previous entries, Monster Hunter Wilds lets players add custom text to their stickers.
  • As you’d probably expect, this has resulted in a lot of memes, and a lot of plain rudeness.
  • Wilds doesn’t seem to have much moderation, so here’s hoping they at least remain friendly.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, users can personalize their sticker texts, but moderation appears to be lacking, resulting in an experience that aligns with general expectations.

As a die-hard Monster Hunter fan, I can’t help but feel excited about Monster Hunter Wilds taking center stage in 2025. Given the incredible success that previous games like World and Rise have enjoyed, it seems only natural that Wilds will be another blockbuster hit. It’s no wonder Capcom is so confident in this game – they’ve been giving fans plenty of opportunities to test it out before its release!

Through the continuous open beta testing phase, Monster Hunter fans have been given plenty of time to try out Wilds and tinker with its systems ahead of its release on February 28. This includes the online aspects, like the underutilized function to customize stickers with text, which players are already utilizing in a manner that is perfectly in line with expectations.

Monster Hunter Wilds Players Are Creating Some Interesting Custom Stickers

On the Monster Hunter Reddit community, user kiaxxl posted a helpful announcement reminding players about an exciting feature: it’s possible to customize text for the game’s collection of stickers. For those new to this, stickers are brief messages or notes that users can send during hunts, and they often depict mild cartoons featuring characters from Monster Hunter.

In a different turn of events, custom texts like these present a unique scenario. While the ones shared by kiaxxl on their Reddit post appear reasonable (with my favorite being the “I’m useless” one), it seems the community is taking a divergent path as seen in the comments section. Some of the stickers contain memes, such as an “absolute cinema” one, while others, like the blunt “Gooning!”, can be downright impolite.

Certain impolite messages serve as a reflection that Wilds may not be currently maintaining its moderation at an optimal level, given some of the offensive or inappropriate words used as usernames.

Up until now, I haven’t encountered any options that appear overtly offensive (I suspect this may change), but it seems players have considerable autonomy. The way they’re utilizing this freedom, such as placing “Nice cock”, is a different story altogether. However, it appears that stickers in Wilds are going to be quite amusing. Here’s hoping they mostly stick to being friendly!
