Players of Monster Hunter Worlds have uncovered a cunning trick enabling them to finish hunt missions incredibly quickly – though the action RPG appears to believe it happened much faster.
Prior to the release of Monster Hunter Worlds, veteran action RPG players expressed worries that the new game might be too simple for them. Although Capcom promised more challenges in the game’s first update in April, there have been screenshots circulating on social media showing players completing quests extremely quickly, which suggests that increasing the difficulty level should be a top concern. However, it turns out that some players are exploiting a helpful trick involving poison damage to gain an advantage during their hunts.
According to VG247, it appears that striking monsters with poison ammunition doesn’t initiate hunt quests, even though they suffer from the poison. This could be because monsters can get hurt in their environment without your involvement causing quests to start. However, since it would be inconvenient for quests to begin this way, you’re able to freely apply poison to your enemies without starting a quest, provided you don’t physically attack them further.
In this spot, the action unfolds, and what seems like an immediate victory emerges from a prolonged series of steps, leaving both the game and your social media audience in awe. By biding your time until the monster’s health dwindles, allowing poison damage to accumulate, and then intervening either for the final blow or to capture it at the last moment, you can give the impression of being a Monster Hunter deity. However, this illusion will fade when people discover that this particular Tempered Chatacabra capture took nearly nine minutes to accomplish, as opposed to the mere 1.53 seconds it appears to have taken.
Is it corny? Indeed. Does it feel rewarding when the game announces your win in less than two minutes? Absolutely. Besides bragging rights, there isn’t much purpose to it, but who knows, it can be quite enjoyable.
