Monster Hunter Wilds: How to Use SOS Flare

Discover the step-by-step process of employing the SOS Flare in Monster Hunter Wilds, as this comprehensive tutorial covers all essential information about its usage.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can activate the SOS Flare as a helping hand when things get tough during your mission or while pursuing a fierce beast. Use this feature at your discretion since it’s optional.

Here is everything you should know about the SOS Flare in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to Use SOS Flare

While on a journey, you have the ability to signal for help by sending an SOS signal to other players. This can be done through the menu or using a default shortcut. Look for the SOS option in the Missions and Quests tab within the menu. As an extra convenience, pressing and holding the L1 key while pushing down on the right analog stick will trigger this function. Furthermore, you can personalize your radial menu to suit your comfort.

Following this, a prompt for confirmation will appear, at which point your character will launch the distress signal (SOS Flare) upward. Remember, it’s crucial to position your SOS Flare wisely, as doing so will cause a temporary loss of control over your character.

Moreover, the game provides an auto SOS Flare feature that can be activated. To do so, navigate to the Quest Counter and toggle on the auto SOS Flare setting. With this enabled, the flare will automatically launch at the start of any quest.

How SOS Flare Works and the Role of Support Hunters

After launching the SOS Flare, a distress signal will go out to other participants. The number of individuals who can assist you depends on the open slots within your team. Players can answer the call for help from any lobby, including those that aren’t yours.

If you send out an SOS Flare for assistance and there’s a bit of a wait before other players respond, Support Hunters could jump in to help. But for this to happen, you must have adjusted your multiplayer settings to include both Players and Support Hunters.

As an avid gamer, I find the Support Hunters to be my AI-powered allies that tag along during my quests and battles. They’ll depart once the mission is complete. If another player triggers an SOS flare, the Support Hunter will graciously vacate its position, enabling the newcomer to join in. Whether you’re offline or playing solo online, these Support Hunters are there to lend a helping hand!

You can cancel the SOS Flare anytime by selecting the option in the menu.
