In Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s such an abundance of materials for players to discover that it can sometimes feel like a daunting task just trying to keep track of them all. Most of these materials are relatively easy to obtain and many players may find themselves with more than they know what to do with. However, there are certain materials that are significantly harder to come by and can pose a real challenge for any player determined to hunt them down. One such elusive material is the Nightflower Pollen, a plant that only appears under very specific game conditions.
Discovering the specific conditions under which the Nightflower Pollen blooms can significantly simplify your search for it, although it won’t make the task effortless. However, having this knowledge will certainly be beneficial, and thus, this guide is aimed at assisting anyone who wishes to locate this elusive plant effectively.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Nightflower Pollen Location
The scarcity of Nightflower Pollen arises from several reasons. Firstly, unlike other items, it cannot be acquired by finishing specific quests or defeating particular enemies. Instead, you can discover it in the open world, specifically in the Scarlet Forest and Windward Plains.
As a dedicated player, I’ve noticed an intriguing detail: this plant only blooms at specific locations when the game’s moon is full. Interestingly, there are six possible moon phases in the game, and they follow a sequence. Here it goes: First Quarter, Growing Crescent (Waxing Gibbous), Full Moon, Decreasing Crescent (Waning Gibbous), Last Quarter, and Finally, Waning Crescent. These phases change order day by day within the game world.
The challenge lies in the fact that the game doesn’t provide any clues about the current or upcoming moon phases through its menus or user interface. This implies that players must advance the phases themselves and then check the real sky for updates. Notably, resting at a camp advances the phase by one each time, so they need to remember this whenever they wish to move forward.
The complexity doesn’t end there, as you might have guessed. To obtain the Nightflower Pollen, players must wait until the eve of the Full Moon night itself. Interestingly, they need to be actively present and engaged in the game world when the full moon rises, so that these flowers magically blossom for them to collect the pollen.
As a devoted player, I can’t help but get excited when I hear about the Ephemeral Blossom events! These special occurrences take place during either the Fallow or Plenty seasons on our game map. When these rare blooms appear, keep your eyes peeled for an icon that shows “Ephemeral Blossom” when you hover your cursor over it in the designated areas. It’s a fantastic opportunity to discover something new and exciting!
This area might not explicitly demonstrate the presence of Nightflower Pollen, however, players can mark this spot as a waypoint. Upon reaching it, they will encounter one or more Nightflower plants.
So, in summary, players need to be aware of the following in order to get a Nightflower Pollen:
- Rest until the evening before a Full Moon during a season of Fallow or Plenty.
- They need to look for the Ephemeral Blossom icon on their map.
- The plant can be found in either the Scarlet Forest or the Windward Plains.
- Players can monitor the phase of the moon by looking in the sky every night, with each rest at camp progressing the moon by one phase.
There’s a trick to simplify this a bit more, which involves taking advantage of a particular side quest. Once players have achieved HR in the game, they should head to Windsong Village and chat with Y’sai. He will offer them a special quest called ‘A Leviathan’s Temper’.
In this mission, the player doesn’t need to track down the Tempered Balahara. Instead, upon accepting the quest, it will automatically set the game time to early evening. If a player completes this task during a Full Moon phase, they will be transported to the correct time of day, enabling the Ephemeral Blossom to appear in the Windward Plains.
