Everything you need to know about the dynamic Emergence system in Monster Hunter Wilds and how it affects the game’s world.
Monster Hunter Wilds, much like the past Monster Hunter titles, features some really complicated gameplay-related mechanics, which it doesn’t explain all too well. While the game does touch up on the basics of combat and the general progression loop, it seldom goes beyond that. Instead, the game relies on players’ ingenuity to figure out those mechanics.
One such rather convoluted mechanic is the Emergence system. The Emergence system is essentially a part of Monster Hunter Wilds’ dynamic weather system. However, its function is quite different. Essentially, the Emergence is a random event that can occur on any part of the game’s map (save for Suja and Wounded Hollow).
Although it doesn’t have any major impact on the game’s endgame progression, it does affect the resources you can gather. Furthermore, the Emergence system plays a crucial role in helping you obtain one of the toughest trophies in the game. Here’s everything you need to know about the Emergence system in Monster Hunter Wilds and how you can use it to your advantage.
What Is the Emergence System in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Emergence is a random event that can occur in most of the regions in Monster Hunter Wilds. The only regions that are immune to the phenomena are Suja and the Wounded Hollow for obvious reasons. During Emergence, the game spawns rare resources like Bulky Treasure or Genesis Opal. While you can somewhat predict when these events can happen, these are still incredibly rare and random.
During our testing, we found Emergence to be most common between Plenty and Fallow. There were times when some Emergence events occurred during Inclemency. However, those instances were incredibly rare compared to the other weather conditions.
Here’s a list of all the Emergence events in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Bountiful Treasure Emergence (Scarlet Forest) – Bulky Treasure
- Magnificent Fossil Emergence (Windward Plains, Ruins of Wyveria and Oilwell Basin) – Genesis Opal
- Colossal Amber Emergence (Scarlet Forest) – Eternal Scarlet Amber
- Wylk Crystal Outcrop Emergence (Ruins of Wyveria, Oilwell Basin, and Windward Plains) – Time-honed Wylk Gem
- Thundering Fulgurite Emergence (Windward Plains) – Thundering Fulgurite
- Giant Hopper Crystal Emergence (Oilwell Basin) – Antimite Mass
- Great Windward Aloe Emergence (Windward Plains) – Great Windward Aloe
Although the Emergence events cannot be forced by a weather cycle, they can be predicted and tracked to an extent. Essentially, whenever an Emergence event is close to happening, it will show up on the map’s Environment Overview tab. From the Environment Overview, you can check how long it will take for the specific Emergence to commence.
Once you spot an Emergence event on the Environment Overview, it’s important that you do not rest. Resting and changing time/weather will result in resetting the map and the Emergence event. Simply wait out the time (complete Investigations or SOS hunts) till the Emergence event starts.
Why Is Emergence Important in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Emergence events do not have a direct role in the endgame progression loop. However, the resources you can gather during these events can be traded for incredibly useful cooking ingredients or other materials. Furthermore, the Emergence event is incredibly important if you’re looking forward to getting the Platinum trophy for Monster Hunter Wilds.
One of the trophies, Explorer of the Eastlands, requires you to collect “Rarity 6 Special Items,” which only shows up during an Emergence event. Although Emergence events are random, you can easily make them happen with a few weather cycles. Make sure to keep an eye on the map and the Environment Overview tab.
