The blockchain industry continues to grow, but questions remain around its scalability and efficiency. However, Monad has been one promising network that hopes to tackle the issues by focusing on high performance.
Monad Testnet Launch and Development Milestones
In its latest effort, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible Layer 1 blockchain has announced that its public testnet would go live on February 19. This shows that the project is fully ready to make even more strides, particularly in the area of transaction throughput and developer accessibility.
For what it might be worth, Monad’s journey through the past two years has been marked by notable feats across various stages of development. In late 2024, the platform rolled out a closed testnet, allowing a select group of developers to engage with its features while also providing critical feedback.
As expected, the phase helped Monad to refine its capabilities, and building on the insights gained, it appears that the platform is now ready to launch its public testnet just as it has revealed.
Expectations are that the launch will open the door to a wider range of developers ahead of Monad’s highly-anticipated mainnet launch later in 2025.
Technical Innovations and Performance Metrics
One of the core aims of Monad is to function as a high-throughput network. According to the blockchain, it currently processes 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) with a relatively fast 1-second block time. However, it is able to achieve this by leveraging technologies like parallel execution and using its custom database called MonadDb.
Its ability to process multiple transactions enhances the overall efficiency of its network, there is more to Monad that makes it a preferred option for developers.
For the fact that it is fully compatible with EVM bytecode, developers already familiar with Ethereum would have no problems moving their decentralized applications (dApps) to Monad. That is, without the need for excessive modifications.
While it may feel like Monad is quite particular about improving its technicalities, the project also has a vision to expand its ecosystem and boost its community engagement.
In line with its expansion vision, Monad Labs, the developer behind the project, has secured $225 million in a funding round led by Paradigm.
😜 Monad’s Testnet: 10,000 TPS Blockchain Shakes Up Crypto World
“And so, dear reader, prepare yourself for the grand entrance of Monad’s public testnet, set to launch on February 19th. This EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain boasts a staggering 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) and a 1-second block time. But wait, there’s more! Monad is fully compatible with Ethereum bytecode, making it a developer’s dream come true. With a recent funding round of $225 million led by Paradigm, it seems Monad is well on its way to revolutionizing the blockchain industry. So, grab your popcorn and witness the crypto world shake up like never before!”
