Mommy’s Home: Psychological Horror Movie Heads to Lionsgate From I Love My Dad Director

As a huge fan of independent filmmakers pushing boundaries and exploring unique themes, I can’t help but be intrigued by James Morosini’s upcoming project, “Mommy’s Home.” The fact that this SXSW prize-winning filmmaker has already made waves with his 2022 movie “I Love My Dad,” which tackled estranged father-son relationships in a fresh and captivating way, makes me even more excited for what he’ll bring to the table next.

As an excited fan, I’d rephrase it like this: James Morosini, the award-winning filmmaker from SXSW, is preparing to share his chilling new psychological horror project, “Mommy’s Home,” with Lionsgate audiences.

A young father’s peaceful family life is disrupted when his previously frozen mother, who was preserved at the age of 24 through cryonic preservation, returns.

James Morosini is in charge of both writing and directing the film. Craig Flores, Dawn Olmstead, and Anonymous Content serve as its producers. David Levine, Garrett Kemble, and Ryan Schwartz represent Anonymous Content as executive producers. Lionsgate has Scott O’Brien and Jon Humphrey overseeing the production.

Mommy’s Home Director deal with odd parental issues again

Morosini, who gained praise for handling the theme of estranged fathers in his 2022 film “I Love My Dad,” is expected to explore the relationship between estranged mothers and children in his future projects.

In I Love My Dad, Morosini took on the roles of director, writer, and lead actor. The film is inspired by a real-life incident where a father uses catfishing to reconnect with his estranged son. Joining Morosini on screen were Patton Oswalt, Lil Rel Howery, Claudia Suleweski, Amy Landecker, and Rachel Dratch. I Love My Dad made a strong debut at the 2022 SXSW festival, winning both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award.

Outside of being a camera operator, Morosini has made appearances in numerous projects as an actor. Notable roles include those on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, American Horror Story, and Feud. Upcoming, he will headline the Netflix horror comedy It’s What’s Inside by Greg Jardin.

Hopefully, we’ll see and hear more on Mommy’s Home in the coming months.
