As a seasoned observer of the Malayalam film industry and its dynamics, I find Mohanlal’s stance on his AMMA presidency commendable. His decision to step down following the Hema Committee Report was a bold move that demonstrated his commitment to integrity and accountability within the industry.
Previously, Mohanlal relinquished his role as President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following the controversy surrounding the Hema Committee Report. In the ensuing months, there were whispers that he might resume leadership. However, these rumors have been debunked, and Mohanlal has clarified his stance on the issue.
As per a report from OnManorama, Mohanlal has openly declared that he will no longer serve as the President of AMMA. Additionally, he made it clear that he has no intentions of holding any official position within the committee.
On previous occasions, Mohanlal has expressed his intentions regarding his resignation as AMMA President. At a recent event for the launch of the Kerala Cricket League, he also discussed the findings of the Hema Committee Report.
Mohanlal stated, according to Mathrubhumi, “The reason we have stepped down from our positions (AMMA) at this time is because the entire Malayalam film industry needs to respond. The report has brought attention to multiple issues, and you are more aware of their specifics than I am.
In simpler terms, the experienced actor also stated that the entire Malayalam film industry should have faced accountability following the release of the Hema Committee Report. However, Mohanlal felt that all the queries were directed solely towards AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) after the sexual misconduct allegations in Mollywood (Malayalam film industry) emerged.
After the complete dissolution of the AMMA committee, it was declared publicly that a new administration would be chosen within the following two months. In the interim, the current leadership will continue to function in an acting capacity to guarantee that the day-to-day operations of AMMA persist uninterrupted, encompassing health and treatment aid for its valued members.
