As someone who has witnessed the power of nature’s wrath and the resilience of humanity during my long years spent traversing this beautiful yet unpredictable world, I find it heartening to see fellow celebrities like Mohanlal stepping up to aid those affected by the devastating Wayanad landslides.
Early on July 30th, the district of Wayanad in Kerala was hit hard by intense landslides, leading to the tragic loss of more than 300 lives and injuring many others. On August 3rd, Saturday, renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal chose to visit areas affected by this disaster and offer aid to those who had been impacted by the landslides.
As an ardent admirer, I couldn’t help but notice that Mohanlal, boasting an esteemed lieutenant colonel rank in the Territorial Army, graced our presence in his military uniform. The army extended a heartwarming welcome to him upon his arrival. Just recently this month, the actor publicly acknowledged and applauded the tireless efforts of volunteers and rescue personnel in Wayanad. He also took a moment to emphasize the significant role played by his 122 Infantry Battalion, TA Madras in these rescue missions.

As a dedicated follower, I personally ventured into areas struck by landslides and engaged with those affected by the tragic incident. Moved by the situation, I vowed to extend my help. Through my charity organization, Viswasanthi Foundation, I pledged an initial contribution of 3 crores. Moreover, should additional funds be needed in the future, the foundation stands ready to offer further financial aid.
In addition to donating through the Viswasanthi Foundation, the actor previously contributed 25 lakh rupees to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF). Mohanlal also announced his intention to oversee the rebuilding of the Mundakkai school, which was damaged during a natural disaster.
When news of the landslides in Wayanad spread on social platforms, various South Indian celebrities united to offer financial aid to those affected. Notably, Malayalam actor Mammootty and his son Dulquer Salmaan combined donated 35 lakh rupees towards the relief effort.
In this scenario, Chiyaan Vikram (from Thangalaan) gave 20 lakhs, Rashmika Mandanna (who stars in Pushpa 2) donated 10 lakhs. The Tamil power couple Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan also donated 20 lakhs, while Suriya, Jyothika, and Karthi combined to contribute 50 lakhs towards the relief initiatives.
In addition to Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, Tovino Thomas, and numerous other famous personalities, they’ve all chipped in for the aid efforts. Regrettably, the landslides in Wayanad have affected countless individuals, causing many to lose their homes. Rescue missions are ongoing, with many others yet to be found.
