As a proud Indian who has witnessed the grit and determination of our athletes at the global stage, I can’t help but be moved by the story of Vinesh Phogat. Having faced numerous challenges myself in my career, I understand the heartbreak and disappointment she must be going through right now. However, like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Mahesh Babu, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nayanthara, and countless others, I believe that champions rise even from the toughest falls.
At the Paris Olympics 2024, Vinesh Phogat, India’s esteemed wrestling finalist, was unfortunately disqualified because she weighed 100 grams too much in her weight class. This unfortunate event was a significant blow to Vinesh, a beacon of Indian women’s wrestling, but superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty have praised her tenacity and expressed their belief that she will return stronger.
On his official platform (previously known as Twitter), Mohanlal expressed, “Keep in mind, champions emerge, even after severe setbacks. You’re an undeniable warrior, and we have faith that your resurgence will be more powerful than ever. India stands together with you.”
In a similar vein, Mammootty expressed his support for Vinesh Phogat on Twitter, stating “It’s heartbreaking to learn about Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification. Despite this setback, she remains a champion in the hearts of countless people. Her courage, commitment, and accomplishments will continue to inspire us all.”
He further added, “Proud of you, Vinesh, and we stand by you in every challenge that awaits.”

Previously, renowned actor Mahesh Babu demonstrated solidarity with the athlete’s hardship and showed unyielding support. Furthermore, he stated that it’s not the result that matters, but rather the strength shown in dealing with adversity and the choices made during such challenging times.
In my expert opinion, this extraordinary individual continues to inspire millions, proving herself a resilient beacon of hope during trying moments. To put it simply, she’s not just winning hearts with potential awards; she’s illuminating the world with her indomitable spirit, shared by over 1.4 billion admirers.

In the same vein, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nayanthara have likewise offered their backing to the athlete during this challenging period. For those unaware, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) previously announced the disqualification of the wrestler. Despite making multiple efforts to meet the weight limit, Vinesh Phogat fell short by a handful of grams and was consequently eliminated from the competition.
The organization has filed a complaint with United World Wrestling (UWW) concerning the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat. Yet, given the stringent rules already in effect, it seems highly unlikely that they will alter their decision.
