In the thrilling eighth chapter of MobLand, dubbed “Helter Skelter,” I left fans stunned when I ruthlessly took out Freddie. It turns out that he’d unearthed who among the Harrigan clan was ratting on Conrad in the fentanyl scheme.
Instead of letting this information become public, Harry ensured Freddie’s permanent silence, showing his deep allegiance to the Harrigan family. At the same time, the episode reveals additional plot twists that reshape relationships among characters and intensifies the main conflict driving the season.
Why did Harry kill Freddie in MobLand Episode 8?
In the criminal underworld of MobLand, Harry Harrigan, who serves as the official problem solver for the Harrigan clan (played by Tom Hardy), dispatches any threats to their power. In episode 8, he silenced Freddie when it was discovered that Freddie knew a secret that could bring down the entire Harrigan family. While the betrayer of Conrad remains unidentified by viewers, speculation among fans suggests it may be one of the insiders with hidden intentions: Bella, Kevin, Seraphina, Paul, or Maeve. Each character has a close connection to the family and might have their own concealed objectives.
It’s suspected that Kevin’s wife, Bella, could be the one leaking secrets. Her complex past with Conrad, which includes speculation that their son Eddie might be Conrad’s child, provides strong reasons for her actions. Furthermore, Bella seems to harbor many grievances against the Harrigans, suggesting she has no particular loyalty towards them.
It seems that Maeve, another individual, has been involved in underhanded dealings. Specifically, she manipulated Conrad into killing his dearest friend, Archie, intentionally leading him astray. Moreover, it was recently disclosed that Maeve, as the matriarch of the Harrigan household, attempted to negotiate a clandestine agreement with Richie Stevenson, but this effort ended up backfiring badly.
It could be reasonable to assume that she’s been removing specific individuals and stirring up confusion, all while secretly advancing within the Harrigan empire. A Reddit user speculated about Maeve being an informant, stating, “There’s no doubt in my mind it’s Maeve. She’s demonstrated she won’t hesitate to use anyone, including Richie, for her benefit; so why wouldn’t she tip off the police and provide them with information that benefits her plans?
Alternatively, it’s possible that Kevin and Seraphina might be seen as moles if they harbor aspirations beyond their father’s level. From the outset, Kevin has shown signs of discontent with his father’s seemingly irrational efforts to wage war. Conversely, Seraphina appears constantly eager to establish her legitimacy as a true Harrigan.
In the first instance, many spectators don’t believe Harry is a traitor because he’s consistently shown loyalty. Similarly, it seems inconceivable that Conrad would engage in clandestine dealings without informing his family. The final two episodes of MobLand will reveal whose underhanded methods and determination will triumph in this intense power struggle, ultimately deciding who comes out on top.
