Actor Simon Pegg, known for his role in Shaun of the Dead, has expressed his thoughts on whether Mission: Impossible 8 could mark the end of the popular spy franchise series. Pegg began playing the character Benji Dunn in Mission: Impossible III back in 2006, where he was first introduced as a tech specialist within the IMF.
Mission: Impossible – The Ultimate Conclusion
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who collaborated on the script with Erik Jendresen, this movie also features Simon Pegg alongside Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Rolf Saxon, Lucy Tulugarjuk, and Angela Bassett.
For the sequel, you’ll see Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Charles Parnell, and Mark Gatiss joining the cast as well.
Simon Pegg on Mission: Impossible 8 potentially wrapping up the franchise
In a recent conversation, Pegg stated that the eighth film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, appears to be wrapping up the adventures of their characters. This sentiment is particularly strong due to the way the plot develops within the movie.
As a gamer, I’d say “I can’t help but feel that The Final Reckoning serves as a rewarding conclusion to these cinematic adventures. It truly feels like the finale for me. Director McQ (Christopher McQuarrie) masterfully delved into the past and connected the dots with the previous movies, uncovering the origin of the Entity and revealing how Ethan’s steadfast refusal to compromise would shape the events that led us here. In my opinion, it all comes together beautifully in this film, making it feel like the end of a long-running series.
The movie is made by McQuarrie and Cruise, along with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Chris Brock serving as executive producers. This production is a collaboration between Paramount Pictures and Skydance. At present, the latest sequel boasts an 80% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 263 reviews.
The movie is now playing in theaters worldwide.
