As a gamer with a heart for K-dramas, I’ve been hooked on the rollercoaster ride that is Miss Night & Day since its premiere. The finale, which aired on August 4, 2024, was no exception to the series’ gripping storytelling and emotional depth.

As a devoted fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement as I tuned in on Sunday, August 4, 2024, to catch episode 16 of “Miss Night & Day” – the thrilling fantasy romance K-drama that airs on both JTBC and Netflix. Starring Jung Eun-Ji, Lee Jung-Eun, and Choi Jin-Hyuk, this captivating series follows the life of a young woman who undergoes an extraordinary transformation: during the day, she becomes a 50-year-old woman, only to revert back to her youthful self at night. The finale was nothing short of spectacular!

In the last installment, Gong Eun-Sim set a trap for Lee Mi-Jin (Eun-Ji) and held her captive. But Mi-Jin resisted and tried to flee. As Gye Ji-Ung (Jin-Hyuk) searched for Mi-Jin, he encountered Eun-Sim instead. Upon finding his girlfriend, he stumbled upon an extraordinary event – she morphed into Lim Sun (Jung-Eun). Towards the finale, Mi-Jin ended things with Ji-Ung, explaining that she didn’t want him entangled in her dual personalities during day and night.

Episode 16 of Miss Night & Day starts off with Lim Sun/Mi-Jin disclosing a hidden truth to her parents, who initially express shock but later become emotional upon understanding their daughter’s predicament. Episode 16 (finale) of Miss Night & Day highlights Lim Sun’s efforts to improve her health and spend quality time with her family. Despite being a young woman named Mi-Jin, she finds herself aging into a 50-year-old version of Lim Sun at night, which causes her concern about the potential impact on her wellbeing. This worry leads her to ponder, “What if I unexpectedly become old or ill?” In response, Mi-Jin researches insurance policies and nursing homes as precautions against such eventualities.

As a gamer, I, Mi-Jin, can’t help but feel the concerns from my parents and my bestie Ga-Yeong. You see, I once thought I’d never end up like Lim Sun after Eun-Sim got caught, but that didn’t happen. Now, I believe this transformation might be permanent. Plus, I miss the good old times with Ji-Ung.

On the contrary, Ji-Ung too is longing for Mi-Jin. He stands outside her house whenever her parents are around, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. Her father often steps out to welcome him, moved by his persistence. He attempts to delay Ji-Ung’s departure until she arrives, but to no avail. Alas, his efforts fail and Ji-Ung eventually takes his leave. Mi-Jin, aware that he has come, conceals herself behind a post, waiting for him to depart.

Tomorrow, I’ll share with you an exciting rephrasing: The day after, Ji-Ung confides in Byeong-Deok that he plans to resign from his job. At the same time, it seems Mi-Jin experiences a dream where her 50-year-old self appears and says, “I am departing.” With heartfelt and inspiring words, Lim Sun takes his leave of Mi-Jin. Will Mi-Jin return to Ji-Ung? Indeed, she will. Discover the journey ahead!

In episode 16 of Miss Night & Day, Ji-Ung prepares to depart the city, while Mi-Jin appears at a trial for Eun-Sim, signifying her permanent return. During this trial, Eun-Sim receives a sentence of capital punishment.

In the evening, Mi-Jin observes Ji-Ung exiting the city, yet she fails to encounter him. As night descends, he lingers outside her home, his expression betraying sorrow as he listens to laughter within. He leaves a token of farewell for Mi-Jin and departs discreetly. Their narrative appears to be heading towards a somber close, but unexpectedly, events start falling into place harmoniously.

In this scenario, Ko Won flourishes professionally, while Byeong-Deok and Ga-Yeong decide to get married. Mi-Jin works tirelessly to realize her ambition of becoming a civil servant. Her ultimate goal is not only to succeed but also to reconnect with Ji-Ung. Eventually, destiny brings them back together in Seoul, at Ji-Ung’s new job site where Mi-Jin has been hired as the latest recruit. The story concludes with them sitting on a park bench beneath a tree, and Mi-Jin inquiring about his romantic feelings. He responds, “She is standing right in front of me,” and the couple shares a passionate kiss.
