On TikTok, the popular “Mingle Dance” trend seems to have been influenced by a specific scene from the third challenge shown in Squid Game Season 2. This game, called “Mingle,” requires participants to form teams based on the number given within 30 seconds and then proceed into a room with their fellow team members to complete the task.
With a haunting version of Round and Round playing, most participants exhibit feelings of dread and anxiety. In stark contrast, however, contestant Thanos deviates from the norm, mimicking the dance moves from the Bang Bang Bang song by T.OP. This unique response is further highlighted when he connects arms with another player, whirling around in a circle while letting out an eerie, almost mad, laugh.
Capitalizing on the scene’s promise, the Squid Game’s TikTok handle shared a brief video featuring Thanos’ dance. This unforeseen clip amassed an astonishing 158 million views within a week, sparking the Mingle Dance craze across the platform.
After that event, numerous TikTok personalities have come up with their own take on the Round and Round Challenge, where they intertwine arms with companions and twirl around to the beat of the widely popular nursery rhyme.
