Minecraft Spring to Life update hits next week, Vibrant Visuals coming later this year

On Saturday, enthusiasts of Minecraft received some intriguing news about the game’s upcoming updates. The forthcoming major update, titled “Spring to Life,” is scheduled to drop next week and will bring captivating new elements to the ongoing world-building escapade. Furthermore, another update was outlined, which will not only incorporate fresh features in the gaming environment but also enhance Minecraft’s visuals for a modern audience – all while maintaining its distinctive style.

During the Minecraft LIVE: March 2025 event, it was announced that the Spring to Life update would be released on Tuesday, March 25. This update will bring numerous additions to the game, with significant changes planned for classic mobs such as pigs, cows, and chickens. Players can anticipate new cold and warm versions of these mobs, as well as seasonal varieties of wildflowers, grass, and leaves. Additionally, a firefly bush will be discovered in swamp biomes by shifting some firefly particles around. Prospective adventurers will also find assistance with the introduction of new maps for sale from global cartographers.

2025 brings us the second significant update for Minecraft, offering more exciting additions. But before that rolls out, Mojang has something even grander in store: Vibrant Visuals. This upgrade will significantly enhance Minecraft’s visual appeal without altering its distinctive character. Expect improved directional lighting, volumetric fog, and other cosmetic tweaks that won’t impact gameplay at all.

For this year, the second major Minecraft update still lacks an official title, but it’s shaping up to be something special with its key feature that hints at excitement and will complement the upcoming Vibrant Visuals improvements. A new block called Dried Ghast can be discovered in the Nether. Players who manage to transport these blocks into the Overworld can rehydrate them, transforming them into a new mob type named Ghastlings. These Ghastlings can later evolve into Joyful Ghasts, which can be outfitted with a Ghast Harness for riding. With their flying ability, Joyful Ghasts offer players an opportunity to soar through the skies for the first time and explore the Minecraft Overworld from above. Additionally, these Joyful Ghasts are large enough to accommodate multiple players, enabling groups of friends to embark on a shared flight experience reminiscent of a magical carpet ride.

Mojang aims to frequently roll out smaller updates for Minecraft under their new program called Game Drops. This allows them to schedule two Minecraft LIVE events annually, including the recent one in March. Additionally, the March event was also arranged because a Minecraft movie is about to be released soon. To mark this occasion, Minecraft will host an in-game event from March 25 to April 7, which ties into the movie. Players have a chance to win an exclusive cape cosmetic as part of this special event.
