It’s clear that MindsEye has been a significant release this year, but unfortunately, it has turned out to be quite a technical mess. Sony has even extended refund offers, and stores have slashed its price to only $20. Despite Build A Rocket Boy’s commitment to improving the game’s performance and squashing bugs, there are whispers that MindsEye 2 is being secretly developed, with the team also working on a title for a popular TV show.
MindsEye 2 in development with game based on “TV show everyone knows”
On the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, well-known Spanish YouTube content creator, BaityBait, has suggested that game developer Build A Rocket Boy is working on a new project based on a significant intellectual property owned by a large corporation. Although there might be some discrepancies due to automatic captions, the YouTuber apparently hinted that Build A Rocket Boy “is secretly developing another project, with a very influential license from a major company, which has not been disclosed yet.
According to reports, the TV show everyone seems to be familiar with remains unidentified as BaityBait has yet to disclose the intellectual property (IP). This secrecy was requested by anonymous developers from Build A Rocket Boy. Furthermore, there’s a vague reference to a “strong license” held by a significant corporation. BaityBait hints that MindsEye 2 is currently in its preliminary stages of development.
A follow-up to MindsEye is significantly less captivating compared to an anticipated TV phenomenon. Beyond the hype generated by BaityBait, its purported popularity alone suggests potential series akin to The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, or The Boys.
Regardless of the show, Build A Rocket Boy’s tarnished reputation makes it potentially problematic, but if the license is either Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, it could be even more troubling. Both franchises seem primed for an incredible open-world RPG with customizable characters and impactful decisions, yet they’ve mostly been disappointing in video games so far. However, there have been exceptions like Telltale’s The Walking Dead and the future War of Westeros shown at Summer Game Fest 2025. Unfortunately, neither franchise has truly capitalized on their potential within the gaming industry.
Regarding MindsEye 2, if it’s developed, it should be a follow-up with significant upgrades. Eliminating the swarm of bugs is crucial, but the primary concern with MindsEye lies in its lack of depth and excitement. The game world feels empty, and there are strange constraints, especially given that the project was led by ex-Grand Theft Auto lead, Leslie Benzies. Unfortunately, it falls short of being engaging, which is a disappointment. Build A Rocket Boy could address the bugs, but MindsEye 2 will not resemble Cyberpunk 2077 because it lacks solid foundations to build upon.
Elsewhere in the gaming world, Shuhei Yoshida, a former president of PlayStation, expressed that his “most anticipated” game will be releasing on PS Plus.
