Consequently, they joined a long list of celebrities such as Billy Crystal, James Woods, and Paris Hilton who have endured a heart-wrenching ordeal. The destructive fires have so far razed approximately 2000 homes, forced over a million people to flee, and claimed the lives of 10 individuals. Ventimiglia has since expressed his feelings regarding the loss of his home in a powerful manner.
Milo Ventimiglia gets emotional as his Malibu house gets destroyed
Milo Ventimiglia shared his emotions, admitting he felt weighed down when he saw the remnants of his former Malibu home, which had been ravaged by the Palisades fire. Ventimiglia and Mariano watched the devastation of their house via security cameras.
In response to Tony Dokoupil’s visit to the site of his destroyed home, the actor from “This Is Us” remarked, “Your thoughts immediately turn to a person…it’s astonishingly swift, and you find yourself reflecting on various memories scattered throughout different rooms and areas.
On January 7th, Ventimiglia and Mariano quickly gathered whatever possessions they could before fleeing their home. Sadly, during the fire that ensued, the nursery where their yet-to-be-born child was meant to be, got damaged beyond repair.
Remarkably, the 47-year-old actor found himself in a real-life scenario similar to his character Jack Pearson from This Is Us, who tragically passed away due to smoke inhalation following a house fire that he managed to save his family from. Ventimiglia recognized this uncanny resemblance, stating, “Life often mirrors art.” Furthermore, this event inspired Ventimiglia to champion fire safety, joining forces with Duracell to spread awareness about it.
Instead, Ventimiglia stated that he boasted of having “great companions” and “decent individuals” in his team, expressing that he and his family were ready to adapt to the circumstances. He emphasized that his “wife, newborn, and pet dog” were top priority.
The devastation of his Malibu house by wildfires had a deep effect on Ventimiglia, and since then, he’s shown an inclination towards promoting wildfire safety awareness.
