Millie Bobby Brown has openly addressed the persistent criticisms from tabloids, particularly those focusing on her appearance and comments suggesting she appears to be 40 years old. Recently, the star of Stranger Things discussed the relentless media judgment and their comments regarding her seeming to be older than her actual age on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Here’s what Brown said.
What did Millie Bobby Brown say about looking 40 comment?
Lately, Millie Bobby Brown has addressed rumors from gossip magazines about her appearance, particularly a comment that she appears to be 40 years old.
The actress explained to Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast that the media often criticizes aspects of her appearance, such as her accent and her age, pointing out that she looks older than she is. In response, she humorously said, “People often tell me, ‘Oh my God, you look like 40.’ Well, if we met when you were a kid, I was only ten. Now I’m 21, so it’s been ten years. My face has grown, as faces do.
Brown confessed to eventually accepting the changes, despite initially attempting to modify herself to satisfy others. She further mentioned, “If only I could say, ‘You know what, it bothers me.’ Yes, it used to bother me, but now… My accent shifts, my appearance evolves, I use a lot of makeup. It’s just who I am.
In the first week of this month, Brown courageously spoke out against media behavior she perceives as bullying. On March 4th, she used Instagram to highlight certain headlines that criticized her appearance harshly. Appearing disheartened, Brown expressed, “Growing up in the public eye, it seems others can’t grow up with me.
Brown expressed concern about “grown authors scrutinizing my appearance, my actions,” which she found unsettling. Rather than succumbing to the ongoing demands of beauty norms, Brown appeared resolute in her perspective. She further stated, “I will not apologize for maturing. I will not shrink myself to meet the impractical expectations of those who struggle with a girl turning into a woman.
