Mikey Madison is being eyed to star in another project after her Oscar win for Anora.
In 2024, Madison bagged the Best Actress Academy Award for her outstanding portrayal as the lead character in Sean Baker’s film Anora. Since then, it has been revealed that she will take on a leading role in an upcoming movie called Reptilia, directed by Alejandro Landes Achavarría.
Currently, discussions are underway for Madison to feature in The Masque of the Red Death, a fresh take on an Edgar Allan Poe tale, produced by A24 and Charlie Polinger.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Madison is set to portray a pair of twin sisters in the movie “The Masque of the Red Death.
The tale unfolds as a deranged prince confines the upper class within his fortress, amidst a horrific plague ravaging the lower classes. Among those admitted into the castle is a “long-lost twin,” who subsequently discovers a debauched realm filled with indulgent parties, opium use, political machinations, vengeance, and beheadings.
Initially, Sydney Sweeney had been planned for a role in the film, but unfortunately, she had to withdraw because of scheduling issues. The film “The Masque of the Red Death” is projected to start filming towards the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.
Edward Poling’s upcoming film, titled “The Masque of the Red Death,” marks his second feature production after “The Plague.” This latest movie had its debut at the Cannes Film Festival last month, boasting Joel Edgerton as one of its stars. Critics have given it positive feedback, but a release date for wide distribution is yet to be announced.
Before her role in Anora, Madison had previously appeared as Maxine “Max” Fox in the FX series Better Things, which debuted in 2016 and continued for five seasons. She has also taken leading roles in films like Monster (2018), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), and Scream (2022), with several other movies added to her list of credits.
A release date for The Masque of the Red Death has not yet been announced.
