Mike Flanagan’s Carrie television show has been officially greenlit.

Mike Flanagan, renowned for crafting Netflix series like ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ (2018) and ‘Midnight Mass’ (2021), is at present engrossed in adapting Stephen King’s novel ‘Carrie’ for Amazon MGM Studios.

By the set deadline, the series has been officially given the go-ahead. Flanagan will serve multiple roles including showrunner, writer, and executive producer, and he will also direct several episodes.

How many episodes will Mike Flanagan’s Carrie show have?

In all, the series consists of eight individual episodes. Actress Hunter Hunter’s Summer H. is currently in talks to portray the character Carrie, whereas Siena Agudong, famously known for her role in Resident Evil, is being considered for the role of Sue Snell, Carrie’s potential adversary.

As a devoted fan, I can tell you that Carrie is portrayed as a fresh take on the tale of Carrie White, an outcast high-schooler who’s been sheltered most of her life under her overbearing mother’s wing. Following the unexpected demise of my father, Carrie embarks on a journey to navigate the trials of high school, confront a vicious bullying incident, and uncover the unfathomable powers of telekinesis.

Trevor Macy will also serve as an executive producer on Carrie alongside Flanagan.

According to Amazon MGM Studios’ Vernon Sanders, “Carrie” remains a timeless tale that maintains its cultural significance. With Mike Flanagan directing and an experienced crew led by executive producer Trevor Macy, this intriguing series is set to enthrall our worldwide audience.

Stephen King’s novel “Carrie” was first published in the year 1974. This book was later adapted into a movie released in 1976, directed by Brian De Palma and featuring Sissy Spacek as Carrie, Amy Irving as Sue Snell, and Piper Laurie as Margaret. After that, there was a television film in 2002, directed by David Carson, followed by a remake in 2013, which was overseen by Kimberly Peirce and had Chloë Grace Moretz playing the lead role of Carrie.

A premiere date for Carrie has not yet been announced.
