Microsoft Announces Two New AI-Powered Copilot+ PCs

Microsoft has introduced two fresh additions to its Surface Copilot+ PC series, showcasing a mini 12-inch Surface Pro and an updated 13-inch Surface Laptop model.

The latest version of the Surface Pro, a versatile device that functions both as a tablet and laptop, is being introduced in a new 12-inch size – slightly more compact than its previous model designed for portability, yet robust for optimal performance. This new 12-inch model stands out as the slimmest and lightest within the entire Copilot+ PC lineup. It comes equipped with an adjustable kickstand, detachable keyboard, and a redesigned layout that enables the Slim Pen stylus to magnetically attach to the back of the tablet for storage and charging purposes.

Last year, Microsoft introduced their AI-enhanced Copilot+ PC laptops in two sizes – a 13.8-inch and a 15-inch version. At the time of release, both sizes were made available. These laptops are built with anodized aluminum and are joined by the newly released 13-inch Surface Laptop. The latter brings subtle but significant improvements such as the adoption of USB-C fast charging as a standard feature (Microsoft has moved away from its exclusive charging port in their latest model) and offers the longest battery life in the series to date.

The two models are propelled by Qualcomm’s swift and potent Snapdragon X Plus processor. Interestingly, Microsoft boasts that its latest Surface Laptop surpasses the speed of the MacBook Air M3.

In terms of design, Microsoft will be adding two new color choices, “Violet” and “Ocean”, along with the popular returnee “Platinum”. These add up to a total of three color finishes available across their product range.

You can now pre-order the latest models of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop directly from Microsoft’s website. The base price for the Surface Pro is set at £799 GBP / $799 USD, while the Surface Laptop starts at £899 GBP / $899 USD. These devices will officially be released in the U.S. on May 20 and in the U.K. on June 10.
