On a Tuesday night, September 17th, 2024, marked the debut of the first complete trailer for Mickey 17. With Robert Pattinson and Naomi Ackie as leads, this anticipated film is set to hit U.S. theaters in January.
What did Edward Ashton say about the Mickey 17 trailer?
In 2022, a science fiction film was made from Ashton’s novel. On platform X, Ashton posted the movie trailer and voiced his eagerness for the upcoming screen version of his work.
Many people have inquired if I’m anxious about Director Bong’s plans for my character, which I portray as a baby. However, I’ve always maintained that I’m not. Here’s why. From our very first conversation, I could tell that Bong truly grasps the essence of MICKEY7 – it’s complex, humorous, and deeply moving. I’m incredibly excited about this project.

In a recent post, Ashton shared that many have wondered if he’s anxious about Director Bong handling his character, Mickey7. However, he has always maintained that he wasn’t. This response demonstrates why. From our very first discussion, I could tell that Bong truly grasped Mickey7 – it’s complex, intriguing, and humorous, and I can hardly contain my excitement right now!
When asked if he had watched the entire movie, Ashton replied, “No, but I’ve read the script. It’s fantastic.
According to the official summary, the upcoming film “Mickey 17,” directed by the esteemed Bong Joon Ho (winner of the Academy Award for Parasite), promises another groundbreaking cinematic journey. The protagonist, Mickey Barnes played by Robert Pattinson, finds himself in an extraordinary situation where his employer requires an exceptional level of dedication to the job – a commitment that involves sacrificing his life.
Besides Pattinson and Ackie, the film also features Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. The renowned Bong Joon-ho, known for films like Parasite, Memories of Murder (2003), The Host (2006), Snowpiercer (2013) and others, wrote the script and co-produced it with Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dooho Choi. Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins are credited as executive producers in this production.
