Michael Newman Passes Away, Baywatch Star Was 68

As a gamer who grew up in the 90’s, Michael Newman was more than just a lifeguard on Baywatch to me. He was a hero, a symbol of strength and determination, both on and off the screen. I remember staying up late to catch his episodes, marveling at his character’s bravery and resilience.

Michael Newman, most recognized for his leading part in the popular show Baywatch, passed away at the age of 68, as reported by those who were closest to him.

According to Matt Felker, a confidant of the late Newman who additionally oversaw the Hulu documentary series ‘After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun’, Newman sadly took his last breath on a Sunday, with his beloved family and friends by his side.

The last time I saw Mike, it was when he was still aware, and with his characteristic style, he said, ‘You’ve arrived just in time,'” Felker explained.

During the 1990s, David Hasselhoff became well-known for his role as a leading actor in the popular action drama series “Baywatch.” On this show, Hasselhoff portrayed a character similar to himself and was indeed a real-life lifeguard. Over the course of the series, he appeared in more than 150 out of the total 241 episodes. In addition to acting, Hasselhoff was also a full-time firefighter and continued his career in that field even after “Baywatch” ended.

In 2006, Newman was identified with Parkinson’s disease and spent much of his time fundraising for the Michael J. Fox Foundation to aid those affected by the condition and advance research towards a cure. Additionally, he made an appearance in Felker’s documentary series that showcased numerous talents from Baywatch.

ComingSoon sends its condolences to Newman’s family and friends.
