As a lifelong fan who grew up dancing to “Thriller” and dreaming about moonwalking like the King of Pop himself, this latest discovery has sent shockwaves through my soul! I remember the thrill of finding those hidden cassettes under my bed back in ’84 – now here we are, decades later, uncovering more lost gems from Michael Jackson‘s treasure trove.
Michael Jackson’s influence keeps expanding, as a fresh revelation illuminates the depth of his artistic brilliance. An assortment of previously unheard songs has emerged, providing a unique peek into his creative process during a less explored phase of his career.
Let me share some insights regarding this fascinating discovery and its contribution to the timeless narrative surrounding the legendary artist, often referred to as the King of Pop.
Michael Jackson unreleased music tracks found
In a California storage unit that had been left unused, Gregg Musgrove stumbled upon a dozen unheard Michael Jackson songs.
Previously with the California Highway Patrol, now an adventurer seeking hidden riches, Musgrove stumbled upon some old recordings. These recordings were made in 1989 and 1991, originally kept in a storage unit that once belonged to music producer Bryan Loren. Inside this unit, he discovered both cassette and DAT tapes filled with unreleased tracks, as well as conversations and creative exchanges between Jackson and Loren.
Musgrove shared specifics about the discovery with The Hollywood Reporter, such as a catalog of items. Among the tracks are names such as “Son of Thriller”, “Don’t Fall for It”, and a collaboration rap track with LL Cool J called “Truth About Youth”.
Some tunes were merely whispered about or partially exposed, while others remained completely uncharted territory for enthusiasts. “I’d listen to it, and I’d get the chills because no one had ever listened to this material before,” Musgrove shared.
Although these recordings carry great historical and cultural importance, they cannot be made publicly available due to legal constraints. The Michael Jackson Estate has clarified that they don’t possess the physical tapes themselves but hold the copyrights for the music and compositions. This means any commercial exploitation of the recordings would likely prompt legal disputes. Therefore, the tracks remain in a state of legal uncertainty.
As a passionate gamer, I’m keeping my prized vintage tapes under lock and key at Musgrove’s secure storage facility. Excitingly, these tapes could fetch a small fortune when they hit the auction block for private collectors, with estimates reaching into the millions. This revelation underscores the lasting impact Jackson had on music and culture, giving fans an exclusive peek into his extraordinary creative process.
The discovery reveals Jackson’s unmatched creativity. However, the future of these tracks remains uncertain. They will likely end up in private collections, leaving fans to speculate on what more could be uncovered from the King of Pop’s career.
