More recently, longtime WWE commentator Michael Cole voiced his opinions regarding Corey Graves’ discontent following his shift to NXT. Notably, the presentation of WWE RAW underwent significant alterations when it switched to Netflix in January.
In a change, WWE has refreshed the commentary crews for RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. Earlier, Corey Graves was teamed with Michael Cole on SmackDown, while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett did commentary for RAW, and Vic Joseph and Booker T were in charge of NXT’s commentary.
The reorganization resulted in a significant change within the commentary teams. Pat McAfee went back to RAW, pairing up with Michael Cole, while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett shifted over to SmackDown. At the same time, WWE transferred Corey Graves to NXT, where he now works alongside Vic Joseph and Booker T on their commentary team.
After flipping the switch, Graves voiced his discontent about the alterations, which sparked excitement within WWE. Yet, he ultimately adapted to his fresh position in NXT. In response to this predicament, he commented: “I’m exactly where I aspire to be, where enthusiasm reigns supreme. Only those with an appetite for success thrive, and professional wrestling continues to maintain its allure.
Corey Graves expressed at the outset of #WWENXT, “I’m exactly where I desire to be. Here, where passion reigns supreme, and only those who are eager thrive. Professional wrestling has never ceased to remain captivating.

Over the course of many years, Graves built up significant influence while working with Michael Cole in the commentary booth. More recently, Cole voiced his opinions and offered insights about Graves’ shift to NXT, expressing some displeasure regarding the change of circumstances.
Michael Cole’s take on Corey Graves’ WWE NXT move drama
On the latest episode of the Impaulsive podcast hosted by Logan Paul, Michael Cole discussed the current state of affairs regarding Corey Graves. Cole clarified that Graves’ statements were intended to create intrigue and further a narrative, although it seems the WWE may not have interpreted them in the same manner.
He expressed, “That’s an unusual predicament. I have a deep affection for Corey, almost an obsession. Yet, I’m still puzzled by the intricacies of it all. I’m aware that he made some comments on social media that were rather harsh towards the company. He attempted to clarify to everyone that his intention was to stir up curiosity and perhaps create a more engaging narrative.
He went on to say, “I believe the company didn’t agree with that perspective. It seems they are figuring it out between him and the company. Corey is absolutely fantastic as a commentator. Among all partners I’ve worked with, he might just be the best.” [Credit: eWrestlingNews]
Although news about Corey Graves’ circumstances was widely reported, Cole also commended him as one of the finest commentators he has collaborated with, falling just short of Pat McAfee in his praise.
